Delaware Prison Tokens

Delaware Prison Tokens made of brass and used as money by inmates. Prison officials authorized these tokens in order to prevent contraband from entering the prisons. The purpose is to limit a prisoner's spending as normal coinage supplied by friends of the prisoner is useless within the walls of the prison. Two types "Delaware Board of Corrections" and "New Castle County Workhouse Wilmington, Del." Available in $1.00, 25 cents, 10 cents, 5 cents and 1 cent denominations.
