This first issue of Continental Currency was put into circulation to pay the initial costs of the American Revolution. This note is signed by Luke Morris and Mordecai Lewis a prominent Philadelphia Merchant. To learn more about this famous Pennsylvania patriot click on his name. The emblem on this note is a harp with 13 strings of different sizes, representing the 13 colonies. The motto is MAJORA MINORIBUS CONSONANT (The large colonies and the small colonies are in harmony). This note has been authenticated, graded Extremely Fine 40 by Paper Money Guaranty and encapsulated in a tamper evident holder.
